DPHS Wins Successful Debt Exclusion Vote

On October 4, 2022 the residents of Spencer and East Brookfield, MA voted to fund the design and construction of a major renovation and addition to David Prouty High School. The existing school has been in place since 1967 and has seen only limited improvements. The proposed plan, developed by JWA over a one year feasibility and schematic design process, proposed to retain one third of the existing school and attached a new classroom wing, administration wing, gymnasium and new pre-school classrooms to the existing building in a courtyard configuration. This strategy allows the school to be built in phases while students remain on site during the two years of construction.

JWA staff have been busy since October meeting with staff and students and furthering the design. The Owner’s Project Manager, Colliers International, is currently interviewing construction managers with the intent to begin the phased demolition and construction in 2023.
