JWA Staff Visit: Plains Elementary School

On our recent tour of JWA projects decided to check in on Plains Elementary in South Hadley. Staff on hand told us the teachers and students love the flexible spaces and common areas between classrooms. We still love the cohesion of the ribbon roofed adds as it threads its way throughout the building and along the main corridor. The wood ceiling adds warmth and connection to nature. Ample studies validate the inclusion of wood and views of nature in schools, what we call biophilia, which helps students remain focused and grounded while learning. Similarly, we celebrate daylight and natural playgrounds for the benefits they provide to the cognitive performance of young learners.
