Greenfield Upper Stories

Greenfield, MA
,
2008
In an unprecedented effort of downtown revitalization, five business owners of eight historic buildings -- all within the National Register historic district of downtown Greenfield-- joined together to obtain New Market, state and federal historic tax credits for long overdue refurbishment of these structures. Margo Jones Architects, consulting with Epsilon Associates of Maynard, MA, wrote the Massachusetts Historical Commission and National Park Service applications. These eight historic buildings had suffered decades of neglect and underutilization. The influx of state and federal tax credits have provided the needed financial impetus to rebuild and return residential and commercial vitality to the town center.
