Greenfield Public Library

Greenfield, MA

The historic Asher Benjamin residence, listed on the National Register, was converted and expanded in 1908 to become the Greenfield Public Library. A grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund supported the restoration of the interior to its 1908 condition, with beautiful oak woodwork restored to a natural finish, accessible furniture and built-ins installed. At the same time, outdated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded. A second project involving exterior restoration, followed.
