Craft Avenue Housing

Northampton, MA : 2022-2024

The City of Northampton aimed to expand the number of affordable housing units in the downtown by annexing a publicly owned parcel immediately behind City Hall for redevelopment. In 2022 JWA helped the City explore the potential for the site to support a small footprint building. In 2023 the City accepted Valley CDC as the developer for the project and engaged JWA to develop construction documents.

The proposed six story project will provide 30 units of affordable designed to meet Passive House standards. The project includes shared program space, a management office, biked storage, all-electric HVAC systems and an upper level exterior deck. The project has been approved by the Planning Commission and is in construction documentation.
