Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, a well-regarded veterans support program in Gardner, MA, has acquired and plans to renovate two historic early 20th century school buildings in Winchendon, MA. The schools are to be converting into housing and connected together via an additional central circulation core to produce a total of 44 dwelling units for veteran men and women in northern Worcester County. Working with associate architects Elton Hampton, Jones Whitsett Architects leads the project which is currently in design development. The units will provide space for bedroom, kitchen and living areas for single adults. Shared common spaces, a day room and recreational outdoor space will combine to create a supportive and therapeutic space for residents.
