Wilson's Department Store

JWA was honored to be selected to work with The Community Builders on a redevelopment study of the Wilson’s Department store building, a landmark in downtown Greenfield. MA. JWA led the historic tax credit effort for the Greenfield Business District Upper Stories many years ago and had long hoped to see the tax credits put to good use. The proposed project totals 138,460 gsf and aims to create 60 units of affordable housing and redevelop the Main Street retail spaces at the first floor into the new home of Franklin Community Co-op.
The project has been approved for continuation into schematic design. Jones Whitsett Architect leads a team that includes Hesnor Engineering, SGH Engineering and ART Engineering. JWA is collaborating with the Co-op’s architect, Thomas Douglas Architects. The project will occur over several phases beginning with the renovation of the first floor into the new grocery store.
