Margo Jones established the firm in 1984. As the sole proprietor for many years Margo established a practice committed to providing excellence in design to the communities of western Massachusetts specializing in schools, cultural institutions, and civic projects. In 2014, she expanded the firm, accepting a new partner and changing the name to Jones Whitsett Architects. Since 2014, JWA has grown and evolved to broaden its capabilities within schools, historic preservation, and public projects.
A graduate of the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Art History, Margo received her Masters of Architecture from M.I.T. She was elevated to Fellow of the AIA in 2016 in recognition of her leadership in the profession. She served on the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Architects for ten years during which she became national Board member, and officer of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Margo has always taken civic duty seriously and is currently an officer of Landmark Trust of the USA, appointed member of the Greenfield Historical Commission, and a Greenfield Tree Committee activist.
