JWA Women with Vision Scholarship Winner!

We are excited to announce that Gabriela Torres Maldonado has been awarded the Jones Whitsett Architects’ Women with Vision scholarship. Gabriela is the mother of five-year-old and nine month-old boys. Having worked at Best Buy, Samsung, Google and Apple, Gabriela has always been interested in technology. She is studying at Bard Microcollege Holyoke and is on track to graduate with her associate’s degree this spring. After graduating, she plans to study computer science and software engineering at a bachelor’s degree program, ultimately pursuing a career in design or software engineering.

JWA offers two annual scholarships to students interested in design, planning, and sustainability careers through Bard Microcollege Holyoke and Greenfield Community College. Says JWA Principal Kristian Whitsett of the reason for the scholarships, "We look forward to big shifts in the future of architecture by consciously creating more opportunities for voices of different perspectives, cultures and communities to be at the table from the inception of design".
