Founded in 2004, the BART Charter School serves 360 students grades 6-12. BART is a college preparatory school with an arts and technology focus. Occupying a former 1970’s hotel in downtown Adams, MA, the BART administration has, over the last nine years, renovated the building to better meet its needs. JWA was selected to design an 11,400 SF addition, which includes a multi-purpose gym/auditorium space, cafeteria, and fitness rooms. This project also includes renovation of approximately 5,000 SF of the existing building to improve teacher work rooms, SPED break-out spaces, and administration offices. Angling the gym/auditorium volume created a hinge which provides a new entrance with enhanced security and a welcoming lobby.
